THE BOOK OF AESOP – BOOK 1:
THE NEW WORLD ORDER

Mystery book cover with contemplative figures.

“The Book of Aesop: The New World Order by Iam Oliver is an intriguing blend of political thriller with paranormal fiction, sci-fi, and romance. It is 2020 in England. Eric Pickles, a salesman for a toy company, is boarding a coach from London to Whitby, North Yorkshire, when a stunning young woman, Gabrielle Smith-Rawlings, takes the seat next to him. Gabrielle is an undercover MI6 agent who is following Eric on a secret mission for the British Government. But Eric is also much more than a salesman for a toy company. He is an MI6 undercover agent, in charge of a clandestine British government project in a state-of-the-art multi-billion-pound secret facility near Whitby. What are Eric’s and Gabrielle’s missions, and will they succeed?

Iam Oliver’s The New World Order is the first in The Book of Aesop series, and it was a roller-coaster read! The storyline kept me entertained with subterfuge, murder, mole hunting, and romance. I also loved the humor, especially the Whitby Musketeers and the primrose-scented onion seeds! But most of all, I liked the paranormal manifestations. The ending left me wanting more, especially on the MI6 mission front, and I look forward to reuniting with Eric in the sequels. I highly recommend this thriller to readers who enjoy unusual blends of genres. If you enjoy stories where secret missions packed with life-threatening perils interlace with erotic musings, this novel is for you. Graphic sex scenes make this story inappropriate for a younger audience.”

“My favourite character was Edith Crumble. She was such a nice woman. If she was a real person with a real Ivy Gardens guest house, it’s definitely somewhere I would stay on my holidays.

THE BOOK OF AESOP – BOOK 2:
LUPIN

The Book of Aesop: Mystery and Romance Cover

“The Book of Aesop: Lupin by Iam Oliver throws Eric Pickles into a world of spies, danger, and secret agendas. After a shocking car explosion and an attempted kidnapping, Eric finds himself caught in a web of international conflicts, moving between London, Washington, and Russia. At the same time, romance and betrayal unfold at Ivy Gardens, where love and secrets mix in unexpected ways. As hidden projects and conspiracies come to light, the stakes keep rising, leading to twists and turns that will keep readers hooked. This second book in the series does a great job of mixing action, mystery, and relationships, building on what was started in the first book while keeping things fresh and exciting.

Iam Oliver does a fantastic job of blending spy action, romance, and sci-fi genres without letting any take over the story. The characters—whether spies, lovers, or both—are realistic, each with their own goals and struggles that make their choices feel natural rather than forced. The way the different storylines come together is impressive, making each twist surprising but also like it was meant to happen. One thing that stood out to me was the pacing—there’s plenty of action, but there are also moments that let the emotional weight of everything sink in. The book also weaves in political themes, adding depth without slowing down the adventure. Overall, The Book of Aesop: Lupin is an exciting mix of espionage, romance, and mystery that will keep readers entertained and eager for the next installment, and I would certainly recommend it to espionage fans.

THE BOOK OF AESOP – BOOK 3:
WALKING WITH SHADOWS

Silhouette of person in hat, book cover design.

In Iam Oliver’s The Book of Aesop: Walking with Shadows, the tension is real and unrelenting. Danger stalks Aesop (Eric Pickles) and his trusty MI6 associates (Rupert and Gymslip) at every turn. A planned and unexpected attack results in one of their very own fighting for life, thus rattling their group’s sense of security. This brutal assault leaves them rocked by fear and mistrust. Amid the tension, multiple questions arise. Soon, trust within their inner circles begins to unravel. Could it be that one of them is, in fact, a secret mole? With the unknown enemy lurking in the shadows and allegiances under question, Aesop and his associates incessantly search for answers. Their quest leads them closer to uncovering the ever-elusive New World Order, exposing betrayals and a promising romance that refuses to be doused, even amid the turmoil.

The Book of Aesop: Walking with Shadows by Iam Oliver is a spellbinding sci-fi novel that combines mystery and romance. Its pulse-pounding plot twists, nuanced characters, and compelling storyline, without a doubt, make it thoroughly engaging. Aesop’s inner battles are just as absorbing as watching him and his team navigate the external threats they encounter throughout their journey. The prose finds that ideal harmony between impactful and lyrical. The pacing is relentless, especially around those moments that build revelation, emotional depth, and drama. If you have a soft spot for novels like The Hunt for Red October and The Traitor, this narrative will not disappoint. Walking with Shadows isn’t just a tale about espionage—it is about trust, self-identity, and the power of hope even when everything around you appears to be rapidly unraveling.

Book 1: hARRY

the journey home

In the book hARRY: The Journey Home by Iam Oliver, Harry travels to London when his father, Lord Robert of Eaton, is near death, only to learn that Robert is not only a nobleman but also an Ispirian from another world who has acted as Earth’s Guardian since 1714. Charged with guiding progress and preventing destruction, Robert passes this responsibility on to Harry, who gains the ability to live as both human and Ispirian. Soon after, Harry is killed along with one of the twelve Disciples who aided his father, but he is restored to life through another Disciple’s sacrifice. His return coincides with the arrival of his Aunt Gertrude and her guest Isadora, sparking romance, while repeated threats and his connection to the Foreign Office set him on his Guardian path.

Iam Oliver’s hARRY: The Journey Home is a really unique science fiction novel that taps into a completely new area for me as a reader: the prodigal British aristocrat son that returns, not just inheriting a title, documents, and artifacts, but the full weight of his father’s legacy as an alien agent and savior of humanity. With this comes questions of loyalty and betrayal that lead to escalating physical threats, from Shebak’s disclosure to a chandelier incident. Harry’s balance between human vulnerability and unrealized alien abilities is as much a part of the story as falling in love with Isadora. I like how intimate domestic moments, including holiday preparations, teasing, and family routines, alternate with detailed strategic operations such as Assignment UKFO-1194, military logistics, and household hierarchies. With tight writing, excellent dialogue, and a brilliant cast, I’m excited to see where the series goes.
